Waste Reuse & Recycling
Any remaining pieces are repurposed into other designs. SAWO finds ways to use the excess materials and converts them to new products instead of discarding.
Waste Recovery
SAWO recycle sawdust and unsavable wood cut-offs by utilizing them as fuel for biomass boilers. This renewable energy source powers their local facilities, reducing the use of outsourced energy and lowering the carbon footprint.
Waste Minimization
The first and most important in waste hierarchy, is to NOT create waste in the first place. Therefore, SAWO emphasizes this by starting right at the cutting stage, utilizing advanced cutting techniques that allows them to use both parts of cut-offs, ensuring limitation of unnecessary waste and reducing overall material consumption, excess wood and materials, striving for zero waste in their production process.
Responsible Waste Collection and Recycling
- SAWO all scrap wood waste generated during production is collected by a PEZA Accredited Scrap Buyer . This waste is then sent to a certified recycling plant, where it is processed and transformed into new materials, giving wood a second life beyond their factory walls.
- Approximately 30%–40% of the segregated waste is disposed of at a DENR-EMB Accredited Landfill, ensuring environmentally safe disposal of non-recyclables.
- The remaining 60%–70% is sent to be recycled in recycling plants, further promoting material reuse.
